I know what it’s like to stand in a room where you are just a number. I’ve been that combat veteran in tactical gear, and I’ve been the man standing on the wrong side of federal law, feeling the crushing weight of a system that is often as blind as it is powerful. But today, the tragedy I see unfolding across Minnesota and throughout our nation isn’t just about ICE agents, protesters, or lawsuits. Those are just the symptoms.
The real tragedy is that we have become a people who no longer know how to see the person standing across from us.
We are living in a moment where our neighborhoods are burning and our churches are being invaded, but the most dangerous fire is the one we’re stoking in our own chests. We have become exhausted by our own outrage. We’ve decided it’s better to be "right" than to be righteous.
The Prophet Jeremiah spoke directly to this fatigue. In Jeremiah 9:6, God says: “Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me.” Think about that word: dwelling. We don’t just visit lies; we live in them. We’ve built a habitual habitat of deception where we only accept the "facts" that validate our anger. We’ve made our political identities our gods, and in doing so, we’ve refused to know the One who actually holds our peace.
When you see a church service disrupted by a shout or a woman die in the chaos of a federal operation, you are seeing the fruit of a nation that has forgotten how to speak truth even to its own brothers.
So, how do we fix it? We stop looking at the "outward signs." God warns in Jeremiah 9:25-26 that the day is coming when He will punish both the "circumcised and the uncircumcised." It doesn’t matter if you have a flag on your porch or a protest sign in your hand. If your heart is callous and full of retribution, those are just fleshy markers. They don’t save.
Real authority doesn’t come from a badge or a loud voice. It comes from a heart that has been cut by the Holy Spirit—removed from self-interest and submitted to God’s justice. Administrations will change. Federal operations like "Metro Surge" will pass. But a narrative built on the Word of God outlasts it all.
It's time to find your spiritual exit ramp out of the chaos. Legacy isn't viral; it's permanent.
